Great Wee Scottish Walks

Great Wee Scottish Walks

Since the wee walks launched in 2004 they have been a popular family event. Suitable for tots right through to teens; the aim of the walks is to encourage children and young adults to see that walking and physical activity is fun and healthy and encourages interaction between their peer groups as well as the community. Participants can walk for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and raise sponsorship and awareness for the chairty regardless of their fitness and capability levels.

There are now 8 walks across Scotland in Aberdeen, Dumfries, Dundee, Edinburgh, Galston, Glasgow, Inverness, and Perth (see table below for all dates).

Activities available during the wee walks include a toddler stroll for the tiny tots which takes part over a shorter distance and a teddy bear hunt. Chaplin's Disco buses are also on hand at each event to create a buzz and offer entertainment and encouragement to walkers as well as energetic music to add to the fun.

To enable as many children (16 years and under) and families to participate as possible (younger children are welcome to bring their parent, older siblings or guardian with them along the routes). Walkers can choose to start the two mile walks at 11:00, 12:00, 13:00 or 14:00. Upon completion of the walks all entrants receive a goody bag and medal for their efforts. Entry to the wee walk or fun run which are both a distance of two miles is £5 per child (3 to 16 years) and parent / guardians and infants under 3 years walk free. The Toddler romp is a distance of 100 yards - entry to the event is free - please register online. Parents and Guardians also go free.

Postal entries will be available from January 2008 upon application by post. Entries can be taken online from now until a week before the event. Walkers deciding to join the walk on the day are also able to register at the event.
