A Walk in the Park
Wollaton Park, Nottingham
Sunday 5 October 2008, 10am
Where? Please meet in the car park situated at the Wollaton Drive end of Wollaton Park where you will see the CF Trust stand nearby. Ample parking space is available in this car park at a charge of £2, whilst there is limited free parking space on Wollaton Road
When? Sunday 5 October 2008, registration is between 9.45am and 11am.
How long is the walk? The route takes in much of the park; we begin and end in the Wollaton Road car park, going first down Digby Avenue towards the golf course and then back up and around the grounds of the Hall itself. We then head down past the deer park towards the lake and Thompson's wood, before coming back up the hill towards the museum, where the toilets are situated; this route should take no longer than a couple of hours. A shorter route (approximately 2km) will also be available. Please take instructions from the CF stand at the start when you register.
What will I need to take? Refreshments are available at the shop in the Wollaton Hall museum, however you may wish to bring your own. Additional drinks and small snack items will be available from the CF Trust stand and all proceeds will go to the CF Trust. Complimentary water will also be available on the day. It is anticipated that the weather will be unsuitable for picnics, but lunches are available at the pub on Wollaton Drive.
Is there anything else I need to know?
- The only toilets in Wollaton Park are situated in the museum area.
- The majority of the walk follows tarmac, gravel or hard mud pathways and is therefore suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. However, at this time of year some parts of the park may be quite muddy, so please take care with your footing.
- Dogs are also welcome on this walk.
If you are able to advertise the walk by placing posters in your community e.g. work and school notice boards, local shops, clubs and pubs etc. or passing on leaflets to family, friends and colleagues, I would be really grateful.
