Wigan Wig 'n' Wellies Walk
Location: Haigh Hall
Date: Sunday 19 September
Date: Sunday 19 September 2010
Time: Please arrive from 10am for a 10.30am start.
How long is the walk? The walk is 5km and should take 45mins -1 ˝ hours. You will be provided with a map and comprehensive directions when you register but there will also be marshals on some parts of the route.
What will I need to take? You will be provided with cakes and cold drinks at the end of the walk plus chocolate at the half way point! Please bring your own additional refreshments if you think you might need them for during the walk. Alternatively, there is a vending machine and café near the car park where drinks and light refreshments can be purchased. You are also more than welcome to bring your own picnic and enjoy the surroundings of Haigh Hall & Country Park after the walk. Don't forget to wear a wig and wellies! There will be a small prize for the best outfit! If you are wearing wellies, please make sure that you wear them in as they can become uncomfortable when walking a considerable distance. If you feel that you will not be comfortable in wellies, please feel free to wear sturdy shoes or trainers. The route is mainly on a hard track but also takes in footpaths which may become muddy after rain and heavy use. Don't forget your Great Strides t-shirt too!
Is there anything else I need to know? There will be a raffle to be drawn at the end of the walk. There will also be the opportunity to use the adventure play area (free) and miniature railway (weather permitting from 1pm - £1 per person). There is a fairly long incline on the walk and it is not really suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs and children should be accompanied at all times.
Apply Online: Entry is £6 per adult and £2.50 per child; you'll receive a free Great Strides t-shirt too. Simply apply online using the button below.
Every effort will be made to ensure that the walk is safe and enjoyable; however, anyone taking part in this walk does so at their own risk.
If you are able to advertise the walk by placing posters in your community eg. work and school notice boards, local shops, clubs and pubs etc, or passing on Great Strides leaflets to family, friends and colleagues, I would be very grateful. To help, or if you have any questions, please contact me on the details below.
