Railway Children Walk & Funday
Location: Haworth Central Park, Keighley, Bradford
Date: Sunday 27 June 2010
How long is the walk? The walk is a 6 mile circular walk, which starts in Haworth Park, then loops back to Haworth Park for lunch and setting back off at approx 1.00 - 1.15pm. We should return to the park approximately 2.30 -3.00pm. This is a fun family walk through Haworth visiting all the locations of the classic E.Nesbit production of The Railway Children. This walk has been established for the past eight years and has been suitable for the more robust pushchairs, but not entirely suitable for wheelchairs.
What will I need to take? Please bring any refreshments you may require during the walk, however there will be refreshments available in the park.
Will there be any entertainment? There will be a mini funday in Haworth Park with children's games such as a Bouncy Slide, Hoopla Game. Jenny Agutter has furnished us with signed memorabilia, which will be available for donations on the day. The Fun Day is for extra entertainment for walkers and families, but the main emphasis and fundraiser is on the walk.
Is there anything else I need to know? The route is not suitable for wheelchairs, although some lightweight buggies may make it around! There will be a walk leader with some Marshals in place to guide you.
Apply Online: Entry is £6 per adult and £2.50 per child; you'll receive a free Great Strides t-shirt too. Simply apply online using the button below.
Every effort will be made to ensure that the walk is safe and enjoyable; however, anyone taking part in this walk does so at their own risk.
If you are able to advertise the walk by placing posters in your community eg. work and school notice boards, local shops, clubs and pubs etc. or passing on Great Strides leaflets to family, friends and colleagues, I would be very grateful.
