Taking part in the world's biggest half marathon, you're part of a unique atmosphere lining up with 54,000 athletes of all ages and all abilities taking you from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to South Shields.

It really doesn't matter if you complete the run with the elite field in just over an hour or if it takes you 2, 4 or even six hours, we'll still be waiting to cheer you from our open-top bus and offer you post-run hospitality second to none.

Here's how you can join us on Sunday 16 September 2012:

1. Enter the Ballot that's open until mid-day on Monday 6 February and please select 'Cystic Fibrosis Trust' as your preferred charity.

If you get a Ballot place, are a member or have a deferred place from 2011, please use the place to raise what you can for us.

2. Alternatively we have Charity Places available in return for your pledge to raise £325.

Even if you want to apply for a Charity Place, please also apply through the Ballot as the more own place runners, the bigger Team CF can be and the more money raised for vital research.

In spring 2012 we aim to head into a multi-dose clinical trial to replace the faulty gene that causes CF with a healthy copy. We are leading the world with this ground-breaking research that has the potential to prevent the development of the lung damage that causes 90% of deaths from Cystic Fibrosis. But it is hugely expensive.
