Date: Saturday 8 May 2010

Give CF the Welly
Location: Etherow Country Park Visitor Centre, George Street, Compstall, Stockport, SK6 5JD.

Date: Saturday 8 May 2010

Time: 10am registration for a 10.30am start.

How long is the walk? The walk is an easy circular 5km. It should take 1-2 hours. This walk is guided by a Park Ranger and CF Trust volunteer, and you are advised to take the guided walk although you can go at your own pace and follow the route and map if you wish. The walk is flat and follows footpaths in the grounds of Etherow Country Park and is suitable for children and adults alike. For young children and children in pushchairs, you can do a short 1km loop of the lake at Etherow Country Park. Children can then wait at the Visitor Centre until other walkers return but will need to be supervised by an adult at all times.

What will I need to take? Don't forget to wear your wig and wellies! There will be a small prize for the best outfit! If you are wearing wellies, please make sure that you wear them in as they can become uncomfortable when walking a considerable distance. If you feel that you will not be comfortable in wellies, please feel free to wear sturdy shoes or trainers. The route is mainly on a hard track but also takes in footpaths which may become muddy after rain and heavy use. Don't forget your Great Strides t-shirt too! You will be provided with cakes and drinks at the end of the walk but please bring any other refreshments you may need for during the walk. There is a café at the start/finish point if you wish to purchase additional refreshments.

Is there anything else I need to know? There will be a raffle which will be drawn at the end of the walk. Toilet facilities are located by the visitors centre at the start/finish of the walk. Every effort will be made to ensure that the walk is safe and enjoyable; however, anyone taking part in this walk does so at their own risk. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on the details below. Please also encourage as many friends, family and colleagues to sign up to take part too - it's not too late!

Apply Online: Entry is £6 per adult and £2.50 per child; you'll receive a free Great Strides t-shirt too. Simply apply online using the button below.

If you are able to advertise the walk by placing posters in your community eg. work and school notice boards, local shops, clubs and pubs etc, or passing on Great Strides leaflets to family, friends and colleagues, I would be very grateful.
