Cat & Fiddle
Location: West Midlands
Date: Sunday 7 October 2012 (tbc)
Congratulations to over 1,100 cyclists who completed their Cat & Fiddle Challenge with us on 2 October - we are truly grateful for your support and thank you for the fantastic feedback we've received from so many of you!
We were delighted to welcome back Sean Kelly to ride with you again, whose illustrious career included winning the Paris-Nice a record seven times and the points jersey in the Tour de France on four occasions.
Would you like to ride with us in 2012?
From Stoke-on-Trent, this 55-mile circular route takes you through Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire and the beautiful Peak District National Park, including the infamous 7-mile Cat and Fiddle climb which will leave you breathless not only from the cycling, but from the stunning scenery that surrounds you.
Some riders do the course in under two hours, some take all day and all receive a big welcome from Brian Rourke Cycles and Cystic Fibrosis Trust at the finish followed by the now legendary home-baked goodies and a cuppa.
This isn't a race, it's a fun run on two wheels and everyone who is competent on a cycle is invited to join us.
For 2012 entry details, just hit Need more info? and we'll let you know as soon as entries open.
Whilst it is not a condition of entry, we ask everyone to please use the challenge to raise as much money for the CF Trust as you can?
Since this challenge was started in 2002 it has raised well over £300k for Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Our very special thanks to Brian Rourke and his colleagues for staging this brilliant event and many other invaluable volunteers. We are also very grateful to every cyclist who has taken part in the event and, in doing so, has helped steer us closer to finding a cure for CF.
The gallery of 2011 pictures can now be viewed on the photographers' site - for any photo's purchased, we receive 20% of the price.
Here's one riders feedback on the 2011 event...
I must thank you , your colleagues, all the volunteers who gave their time and last but no means least, all those people at Brian Rourke who made this event happen, I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope that the event is repeated once more next year.
Having trained better this year I was more prepared and therefore suffered far less:-0 however now I want to improve on my time.
To be honest I would find it very difficult to see how the organisational side of things could be improved on what I experienced this year, so well done to everyone!!!
I know times are tough but have you considered upping the entrance fee, £15 for an event is cheap however when the event is organised as well as this I really think the event is being undersold.
The food was great and the welcome back at the community hall was very warm.
