Cambridge University Botanicals Garden Walk

Location: Cambridge
Date: Sunday 3 October 2010

Cambridge Botanicals Garden Walk
Time: Registration begins at 10:30am, Please enter the gardens via the Brookside Gate. There is limited pay-as-you-go parking outside the gardens so we strongly advise all participants to use Park & Ride.

Where? The walk is a circular route with a number of pathways that can be varied to take in the various sights and experiences of the garden. All participants will be given a map of the gardens; the map will indicate the route and areas of interest. Marshals will be strategically positioned to assist.

What will I need to take? Participants are advised to provide their own refreshments, however, there is an on site café available to all walkers.

Is there anything else I need to know?
  • Toilet facilities are available at the entrance of the gardens.
  • The gardens are of natural beauty and many flowers, plants and trees have historical value therefore care must be taken when viewing these.
  • Keep to paths and grass so to avoid planted beds.
  • Taking cuttings is strictly forbidden.
  • Children must be supervised at all times.
  • The pathways are gravel, grass or wood chippings; the surface in some areas may be slightly uneven. During wet weather the grass areas will be muddy therefore due care is necessary.
  • Participants are encouraged to wear suitable footwear. Care must be taken when stepping up and down the steps to various parts of the gardens.
  • There are some overhanging branches, care must be taken when approaching these trees.
  • Dogs are not allowed in the gardens except for guide dogs.
Apply Online: Entry is £6 per adult and £2.50 per child; you'll receive a free Great Strides t-shirt too. Simply apply online using the button below.

Every effort will be made to ensure that the walk is safe and enjoyable; however, anyone taking part in this walk does so at their own risk.

If you are able to advertise the walk by placing posters in your community eg. work and school notice boards, local shops, clubs and pubs etc, or passing on Great Strides leaflets to family, friends and colleagues, I would be very grateful. To help, or if you have any questions, please contact me on the details below.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on the details below. Please also encourage as many friends, family and colleagues to sign up to take part too - it's not too late!
