Birmingham Botanical Garden Walk
Location: Birmingham Botanical Garden
Date: Sunday 23 May 2010
Date: Sunday 23 May 2010
Time: Please arrive anytime after 10.45 to register for 11.30am start.
Where? At the 'bus shelter' inside the Botanical Gardens.
How long is the walk? 9km - 6 laps of the circular route - the walk is a circular route of three pathways but can be varied to take in different sights and experiences of tranquillity.
What will I need to take? You are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the gardens at your own leisure after you have completed the walk.
Is there anything else I need to know?
- Please bring your own water for the walk; alternatively there is a café where drinks and light refreshments can be purchased. You will be given a complimentary drink of tea or standard coffee.
- Toilet facilities are located near the entrance of gardens and at the tearooms.
- You will be entered into a free raffle on the day and the draw will take place after all participants have finished the course.
- Children will also have the opportunity to use the adventure play area (which is free) but must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times.
- There are water pools and ponds situated around the gardens so children must be supervised at all times.
- There is a fairly steep incline on the walk but it is still suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Due to the length and terrain, it is suitable for children aged six and over who should be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children under this age are welcome to take part if you feel they are able to complete a 9km walk within 2 hours. Dogs are not allowed on this walk.
- Please wear sturdy shoes or trainers, as the route is mainly on a concrete track but also takes on footpaths which may become muddy after rain and heavy use.
Every effort will be made to ensure that the walk is safe and enjoyable; however, anyone taking part in this walk does so at their own risk.
