Ashridge Forest Bluebell Walk

Location: Bridgewater Monument, Moneybury Hill, Ashridge, Ringshall, Berkhamsted, Herts, HP4 1LX
Date: Saturday 24 April 2010

Taking steps to cure Cystic Fibrosis
Where? Please meet at the Bridgewater Monument, the main focal point of Ashridge Forest and National Trust. Parking is on the main drive through the main entrance on the right, it will be clearly signed.

When? Saturday 24 April 2010, 11.00am

How long is the walk? 10km and will take you about three hours to complete (including a short water break!), the walk is circular and you will come back (eventually) to your car.

What will I need to take? There are tea rooms in the park; however the walk takes you through farmers' fields and forest where there aren't many shops about so we would advise taking light refreshments with you, particularly if it is sunny. Ashridge is also a beautiful place for a post walk picnic.

Is there anything else I need to know?

  • Toilets are situated by the tea rooms.
  • There are no marshals but you will be given a good map and instructions on the day, and you may have to do a bit of treasure hunting just so that we know you have completed the walk and not just sat down in a quiet, shady, spot and had a snooze!
  • The second half of the walk is quite hilly and most of the route is off road, going through woodland, across fields and along bridleways.
  • The terrain is not suitable for wheelchairs but off road style pushchairs will be OK (maybe a little bumpy in places!.
  • And finally for those of you that can't bear to leave your furry friends at home, the forest is a haven for dogs, although certain areas will require them to be on a lead.

Apply Online: Entry is £6 per adult and £2.50 per child; you'll receive a free Great Strides t-shirt too. Simply apply online using the button below.

Every effort will be made to ensure that the walk is safe and enjoyable; however, anyone taking part in this walk does so at their own risk.

If you are able to advertise the walk by placing posters in your community e.g. work and school notice boards, local shops, clubs and pubs etc, or passing on Great Strides leaflets to family, friends and colleagues, I would be very grateful.
