Hi, I am diabetic but don't use an insulin pump, just the old fashioned insulin pen and needle.

Feel free to ask/post any questions here on the board, there is usually someone who will be able to answer them.

Hi baby blond
99% of Men with cf cant have children natural its some thing to do with the tubes being blocked but there is ivf i dont think there is anything abnormal with the sperm its getting it out to do its job is where the problem lies.

Good luck Lisa x

Unfortunately there is usually a problem with the sperm of men with CF. The sperm normally leaves the testes in a somewhat immature state, and finish maturing during the time spent slowly drifting along the tubes.

There is a minor operation which can harvest sperm directly from the testes but these sperm are frequently immature and have difficulty fusing with an egg, so the much more difficult and less successful procedure of injecting the head of the sperm into the egg is necessary.

All this reduces the chances and increases the costs of having a baby, but IT IS POSSIBLE. I spent some time on a ward with a bloke with CF who at that time had two lovely little four-year-old boys, both bright as buttons and lively as can be.

Hope this helps.

Take care,

Richard.
