Hi there I'm 18 and got Cf.I just wanted to know does anyone have The Vest(airway clearance machine)?

They cost around $14,000 in america and are on sale here for £7,995 now.

Do anyone have one?
Does it do physio for you as good as chest physio?
How much and where did you get it from?
Thank you

I really want one because i not been doin physio for 3 years now coz i sort of rebelled and got lazy because i hated it and didnt feel any benifits from chest physio. So I thought this would be great!!!!!!!!

i have one, love it. I lived in the states and my insurance paid. it was over $16,000 u.s. dollars. Although studies show traditional physio works as well, the vest is defintely more convenient, you can do anything pretty much while wearing it. I did no physio for about 10 years before getting it, and it has really helped improve my numbers.

You can do anything while using it as long as you're sitting by it - the tubes are a bit restrictive.

I've tried it in hospital the last 4 months (I'm in one week a month) but to be honest prefer a real physio to listen to my chest too.

Having said that, if stuck at home and unable to do much myself I'd think it was a good idea. My preference is for autogenic drainage but at times I need percussion. At the moment I just pop into the clinic if I need an extra wallop.

It's also a big lot of money. If you could try one first I'd recommend that route. Don't pay for something you've not proved to be worthwhile. I'm not sure how well you are but if you can do some of your own physio and go swimming / get on a treadmill you'll be off to a good start. Physio doesn't have to be dull
