Thanks for the welcom back
Well what has been happening to me the past 5 weeks. About 5 weeks ago I come home after going to my uncle’s funeral, and I was sitting down eating a late evening meal. Then after about 3 hours after the meal I got real bad pains in my side, I just though well another blockage so I left it, then next day it real hurt all the time not just now and then. This was a constant pain, I rang my consultant up and got some gastrographin 4 bottles but still the pain would not ease up. I was also due to get my port changed in a week, so I waited till then to go in because this was the only time they could fit me in for a new port, maybe I should have gone in sooner but I didn’t want to have to cancel my port. When I got to hospital the pain was really bad I got my new port then they scanned my belly there was a lot of fluid on my belly but they also noticed I had ruptured my spleen I was then given oramorph for the pain. I then started to run a temperature and my heart was beating at a constant 168 bpm. When I went to sleep my O2 levels were dropping to 84% so they put me on oxygen and IV’s. I started to get better after about 2-3 weeks I was then transferred to Birmingham QE liver unit. I had lots of test done, saw the liver coordinators, bloods taken, CT scan, ultrasound of my heart and lungs X-ray spoke to loads of doctors and yes had an assessment for my liver. The rupture of the spleen was caused because of the liver disease. They are confidant I will go on the liver transplant list if that is what I decide to do so. I knew this was coming but when someone comes into your room saying you need a liver transplant, and if you don’t get one in roughly 2 years you will die it’s a lot to take in. As you can imagine it’s been very emotional the past 5 weeks for my parents and myself, maybe more so for them. I’m confident I will decide to go on the list. Obviously my parents and I will need to talk more which we are going to do after Christmas. I’m glad I‘m home for Christmas. My spleen still hurts even after 5 weeks so I am glad they have given me lots of oramorph to take home. Well that’s it for the moment. Other than that thing seem to be ok.
I hope everyone else is well and looking after themselves
