Cefaclor and rashes???

Hello all,

Need some advice please.

My little one, Holly, has developed a blotchy rash on mainly her arms and legs and was wondering if it could be the Cefaclor? Only thing is shes had this antibiotic plenty of times before and not had any reaction to it.
She has had to have the Cefaclor 3 times in 3 months would this make a reaction more likely?
She is well in her self, trouble as usual

thanks nikki x

Hi

Just a word of warning I might be wrong but my son can't have any of the cef sporin antibiotics i.c Cefatazadime, Cefixime he first got slight rashes then one day he had a dose of Cefatazadime I.V and swoll up like a rasberry really frightening and they had to give him an antidote really quickly it was so scary, so could be a sign that Holly is going to be allergic I am told it starts with slight rashes and then Wham it kicks in!

Good luck

Hello Niknak

just thought that I would let you know that Grace used to have azithromycin regularly for about 2 years and then one day she just developed an allergy to it. Which started with a rash that moved around alot and mostly on her limbs and eventually it made her quite sick so we rang the nurse and she confirmed that she was allergic to it, and also said it can happen at any time even though you have been fine with it so far, so maybe ask your team on this one.

It really does sound like an allergic reaction, and as the other have said it can happen even after years of taking an antibiotic. I'd stop the cefaclor and get in tough with the hospital promptly.

Richard.
