Colomycin

Hi,

Is anyone out there having problems getting Colomycin as i have been told there is a supply issue with it at the moment,Millie has now had to go without her neb for a week now and we are awaiting both the GP and consultant to decide if they are going to put her on a promixin ineb in the meantime.

I'm an adult with CF and am on colomycin and have no problems getting it. I picked up a new prescription from the chemist yesterday. I'm in the same-ish area as you too - I'm living in Galgate near Lancaster at the moment.

my son is on the ineb he is three and he sits on his little chair and does it him self its a lot better than colomycin

No problems getting colomycin.

I agree about the ineb being easier for children - same with using the eflow to nebulise colomycin.

I don't think paediatric centres should make kids use the old style nebs any more - surely the ineb and eflow are better for compliance.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies,still having probs getting colomycin,consultant thinks its better for people that are on more than one neb per day perhaps not as cost effective for mills as she is only on one neb twice per day.(Outreach team dont agree,neither do i )so we are still pushing for the ineb in the mean time.

I will however pass your info on to the pharmacist at work.

I'm not having any difficulty getting colomycin either.

I suspect that it is your pharmacist's supplier is having difficulty getting their normal, imported, cheap supply instead of the more expensive local supply that hospitals etc use. Or maybe I am being unhelpfully cynical here!
