....That women with CF cannot get pregnant, general health and well being not being one??

Are there certain problems that women with CF face after trying for well over the average time for conception??

And apart from IVF what are the cures, if any??

Oh, and I'm sure there's something where the mucus blocks the tubes. Not sure what the term is though. Are there simple tablets you can take for this problem or is it more serious?

Sorry about questions on this topic AGAIN! LOL!

Hi Becky,
You're partly right - the whole thick mucous thing that us pwcf get can cause problems with fertility. Basically, it means that the cervical mucous that helps most people get pregnant can be a bit thick and acts as a barrier to sperm getting through.
There is a cough medicine that is meant to help thin the mucous, but I don't think there's much evidence it works.
Many women with CF can and do get pregnant without any help, so please don't assume you will have a problem.
If however you are in need of fertility help, there is a procedure called intra uterine insemination (IUI), which is where a doctor places your partner's sperm INTO your womb and thus past the problematic mucous. This is a lot less invasive than IVF and costs a lot less too.
HTH.
