hi every one!nearly xmas how exciting.lol
does any one take coliston (colomycin) neb?
im just wondering what dose people take and what they mix it with?
im suposed to av it but not sure how much sodium to mix it with has i havnt had it for so long ive forgot,but i dont want to ask the docs cause im ment to already take it.

Doctors are used to people not taking their meds. They even have a name for it...non compliance. I would tell them you haven't been taking it for a while and have got muddled. They aren't there to punish you. Good doctors recognise what a pain taking everything is.

I use 2.5ml of water and 2.5ml saline mixed together.

Its best to ask as it does depend how much Colistin you are taking -some people have 2 megaunits some people only 1 and the dilutions are different.

don't worry about owning up - it's good news that you are starting to take it now!!

Hi there

I used to pull the tops off two 1million unit ampules and squeeze in apporoximately 3ml of saline in total (i never measured it).

To make you take it more often have you asked your hospital about an E-Flow? I got one free because im on Colistin and now my nebulising times are much shorter.

My daughter has 2 mega-units of Colomycin and I always mix it with 5mls of saline.
