Leaving the boards for a while

I've decided that I'm going to stay away from the boards for a while. I don't know how long but the boards have become a bit nasty and negative, also I'm getting really annoyed with some one posting and then someone replying in text speak which takes me twice as long to read. I know people might not like people but don't post it on here as personally I have enough crap in my life to put up with. I also think a break away from it might make me feel better as I'm constantly thinking about my health at the moment. I hope everyone keeps healthy and has a good christmas. If I don't come back I would like to say thankyou to

I'm sorry you feel you've got to take a rest, but I agree: just at the moment there are some very unpleasant posts appearing on the forum. It spoils it for everybody else.

Take care, stay well!

Richard.

I'm sorry to hear you feel you've got to leave, too, but as with Softie, I've got to agree that for a little while now these boards haven't been the haven of mutual support and camaraderie that they should be/have been in the past.

Keep well and keep smiling.

I know i'm not on your list of people, but i thought i'd respond anyway. It's a shame when people feel they have to leave the boards, but i can't really disagree with Sofite or Oli and therefore i understand.

Wish you all the best and take care

Anders

It's never good when suddenly CF becomes everything you think about so a break sounds like a good plan

Very best wishes Houghy, I hope you stay well over christmas and keep on smiling Take care and hope to see you posting some time in the future

I'm just going to echo what others have said, I'm sorry you feel the need to leave too and i completely understand where you're coming from. I think it's something in the air as other boards i look at are also being nasty....christmas spirit need not apply eh?

I hope you feel you can come back soon, as those of us who believe in support will be waiting

I agree with all the above - not only can the boards make you focus on your health a little more than is 'healthy' sometimes , negativity can also take the shine off sharing issues comfortably. I often take extended breaks, so all the best and if you don't reappear before Christmas, have a good one.

Stay warm

Thanks so much for saying I helped Houghy! I know you helped me with replies too so I'm sad to see you go. I totally understand what you mean about CF taking over sometimes when you focus on these message boards too much, and I'm also saddened to see them change in style a lot over the last year.
Please come back from time to time though when you feel up to it, it would be nice to hear how you keeping
Lots of love

I'm sorry to see you go but can fully understand your reasons (and share them to a large extent). Hopefully the sense of camaraderie on the boards isn't totally lost, so I'm hoping we'll see you on the boards again or perhaps on MSN messenger.

Hope you have a happy Christmas

Best wishes,

~ James

I am not on your list either but I just thought I'd say what the others have said in that I am sorry you have come to this decision. Though its understandable at the same time. As I feel like that at times; all I focus on is being ill and the board just highlights that for me. Time away can help or not getting involved as much; reading all the messages. I sometimes stay away for a few days at a time and give my mind a rest too from things, which helps me. So I understand where you are coming from.

Have a great Christmas

Hi,

Im really sorry to hear youre upset. I must admit, I havent been posting much lately as my daughter has been ill, but I havent read a lot of the posts, so I didnt notice anything nasty.

I hope you keep well and keep smiling.

Hi Houghy

Would have replied sooner but I'm in the big house so not playing on the web much.

Thank you for saying thanks. With the support of other advocates (Tom and Sarah in particular) in 2000 I asked The Trust if we could have a forum. Rosie agreed and since it's launch the forum has evolved and helped a great many people. At times we all need to walk away from CF world and go back to the one away from the screen.

The old guard will be here when you come back.

Have a break, live for yourself and have a fabulous Christmas.
