Hi everybody, how are you all? Good I hope. Ive just left hospital and Im continuing the rest of my IVs at home for a further week. Im growing my usual infection Pseudomonas and something else Mycobacterium kansasii. My team havent told me much about this infection except that its part of the TB family and that at the moment they dont think t needs to be treated with anything other then my ususal medication. I just wondered if anybody else has grown this before and if so could you give me any infomation on it please? Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Atypical mycobacterium comes in various flavours.

I've tested positive for two types and am on a lot of IV antibiotics (8 months worth). Yours may well be treatable with orals and a lot less hassle!

A combination of some of the following can be used according to a google search...

Rifampin, rifabutin, ethambutol, ethionamide, amikacin, streptomycin, clarithromycin, and ciprofloxacin
