Sarah - Try to think of it a different way.
It isn't that everyone with CF "ends up" on the transplant list. It is that unfortunately, as Laura says, CF is progressive. If it gets to the stage (like it has for me) where it has progressed to a very severe level, a transplant is an option you could look at to hopefully extend your life.
There are many adults who use this board who still have good lung function, who are living very full lives, and who are in their 30s, 40s, and a few people with CF out there who are 60+! Bearing in mind these people were born when the life expectancy was below 20, who's to say you won't go on and on Maybe you could find someone on your team or a close friend or relation you could talk to about all this? It is heavy stuff and it helps to have a sympathetic ear to sound out all your worries to.
The most important thing to remember is you just dont know. All you will do by going over and over the possibilities is wear yourself out mentally I know it's hard, honest I do, but I would urge you to invest some of that energy you are spending panicking about the future (and lets face it none of us know what it holds, CF or no CF) and concentrate on what you can do today
