We're putting ours up later tonight, after going into town to see Father Christmas arrive and turn on some of the Christmas lights, and then Paul Daniels is going to turn on the rest. Going to be fire-eaters and the cast of Snow White too, so should be fun!

We're having an old fashioned Christmas here, an apple and an orange in the stockings, maybe a sixpence. Paper chain dec's, licked and sticked by the boy's, bits of crepe paper with dolly mixtures and jelly beans in em tied with tinsel for the tree. Midnight mass providing we can get in the church. If I think of anything else 'olden day's-ish' we'll be doing that as well.

Chris's new start is the best christmas pressy ever, can't possibly top that

I'll probably be doing mine next weekend. Although its December already it feels a bit too soon to do it now. My daughters nursery had put theirs up today but it just feels too early. Having said that I have started wrapping my presents already and I only have 4 left to buy! I'm amazed at how organised I've been this year, but I did have to do most of my shopping online because each time I hit the shops to do my christmas shopping I ended up with lots of pressies for me and not many for anyone else!!! Whooops

I have an advent caalender its a chocolatte one you see and my mam still buys them me ( i know i know but who am i to say no to chocolatte hey! ) I dont celebrate xmas in religion way as i dont believe in anything like that. I celebrate xmas in a family way, I like it cuz its the only time the whole family gets together and has a day together. I think thats the main part of xmas anyway, Bringing family together. x (oh ps we didnt have time to put the tree up so we are doing it sunday now!)

I absolutely adore christmas. I remember the christmas's during my youth in the 70's - paper hats and top of the pops and going to midnight mass, was the greatest time ever. I try hard to re-create that for my children. We have the loudest decorated house in the street every year, and we have advent calenders and candles. I make christmas cakes for everyone, I make my own christmas pudding and mince meat and mince pies. My Dad always makes me a jar of pickled onions which I have to have, but never eat, we have mulled wine and mince pies with all the neighbours in the street!! Its great, but not atleast til after 15th December!!

Like you pammie I also have a birthday on the 13th so we usually either put it up one day before or on the 14th/15th. Takes ages to put up and I must say I am shattered after, but it is well worth it just to see the children's faces light up when they see it. I always got to put chocs on the tree, kids love that, I can remember when I was a kid we ate all the chocs out of the wrappers on the tree and replaced them with stones. from sunseasand.
