eflow query - sorry for repetition

Sorry to repeat previous threads but can't find info without spending hours and hours looking!

I have just been given an eflow by the hospital after many years using a compressed air neb. Been given the instruction book but no other info so wondered what other cfers do..

CLEANING the neb - do you all wash (using a toothbrush..) and rinse for 5/6 mins and then sterilise the neb bits EVERY time? Do you use 'distilled water'for sterilising? Distilled water seems a bit pricey if you sterilise the b***ing thing 3 times a day! It also seems not so easy to find.

Thanks for any help you can give me!!

hi there!
to clean mine i just bought a baby steam steriliser from argos £20, and i just dismantle it after i use it and put it in everytime! it only takes 7 minutes to completely sterilise and is ready for next use! very handy! i got recommended to use one by my cf team! hope this helps it certianly makes my life easier!

ps sterilised water is distilled water! two birds, one stone

i use an eflow. I rinse and clean with HOT water, every time i use it. I use a steam steriliser every 2 or 3 days on it. I really like it over my old porta-neb thingy.

Thanks!

Dreary - I was told the impurities from tap water will damage the aerosol head bit if you put in the steriliser, hence the need for distilled water.....I have bought some car battery/steam iron water - perhaps the answer is to only sterilise the head bit every so often but to do the other bits more regularly?

Captain Dan - thanks- i feel better about NOT using the steriliser EVERY time!! Funny how the instructions for the old neb used to say sterilise/boil neb bits once a week and now they say after every use - do I sense a worry about litigation??? Have been boiling them in a pan once a week for about 5 years but have now got a bottle steriliser thingie Hooray!

Still in two minds about the eflow - but do prefer the peace and quiet compared with the old one!
