Creon in Pots ??

I remember reading somewhere (possibly in my newsletter from the Brompton) that it is possible to get creon in pots instead of in those massive popper things.

Does anyone have any info on how/where I can get these as i'm shortly off on holiday for a few weeks and could do without a suitcase full of creon packaging!!

some chemists do them and some dont.. If you request them they should be able to get you them. Thats what I did, and only one of the chemists still wont get pots just blister packs..

I think it depends on the supplier the pharmacy uses.

At the hospital pharmacy I get pots, at my brother's pharmacy (gaskall and Webb) you can get pots. But my pharmacy, Weldricks doesn't seem to know how to order the pots. They've tried a whole lot of suppliers.

We always get pots but it would be useful to have some in blister packs for the odd day out. I'll have to ask the dispensary as I thought they had stopped making them.

Our pots are made bt Solvay Healthcare- Creon 25000 (may be different for other strengths.

My daughter is on Creon 10000 which always comes in pots.

I get her prescriptions from Lloyds Chemist if thats any help.

They come in pots of 100 - I have a cupboard full, if you take the same strength I could post you a pot or two? You only have to ask.

Hi i am on creon 25000 and mine used to come in blister strips (very annoying) and now they come in pots (like they used to) I think it depends on where ur chemist gets it from, If you tell your GP to put on ur prescription "preferably pots of creon" then your chemist will do that for you. I always keep a couple of empty pots just incase the chemist messes up and gives me blister strips then i just pop them all into the pot Voila! lol xx

My chemist was pot luck at one point whether it would come in pots or blister packs. I personally prefered the blister packs as they're easier to carry around on a day out than a pot I thought. Now I always get pots though because my sister requested all her creon came in pots, so they've just automatically done the same for me as well. I've got used to them now.

We've always had pots, from either Lloyds or Boots. The only thing that bugs me is when they put them into brown plastic bottles "because they have child-proof lids".

i was told the blister parks are not very good, as there not stealed like the plastic pots and being as they travel all over from differernt places you dont know if they have been correctly stored, any way pots are so easy to use, they make a handle pot to use for physio!
but ur chemist should get them for you,

yep if you ask your pharmacist nicely they should be able to get them for you. The company which did the blister pack is the same company which make the pots too i think. So much easier in pots!

My daughter gets Shelby's creon in blister packs from the chemist she used, but in pots if she gets them at either of the hospitals. Not sure which one she prefers, pots for storing but blisters for taking out and about I think. Although lately when in the local hospital they seem to forget to get her any from the pharmacy so then we are glad we took some in with us.

I have a little blue container that I got from the creon company (I think it was Solvay)so I always have creon in my handbag incase I take Shelby for a treat at any time.
And yes, before anyone asks I do keep a record of the expiry date on the pot or blister I take them from and make sure to throw them away if they expire.

You can get different strengths creon. I'm not a 100% sure on the micro creon as I dont think that was around when I was a baby! But anyway there is creon 10000,creon 25000 and creon 40000. All this means is the strength is different. So those with a higher number have a higher amount of the active ingredients in it ( I think this is right but highly untechnical!). For example I take 8 creon 10000 with meals and my sister has to take 8-10 creon 25000. So although we may take the same amount of tablets, she still needs more than me as she is on a higher strength of creon.

Hope some of that may be of some use.
