Cipro / Fluclox

I was told last night that Scarlett's last cough swab grew pseudomonas & she's being prescribed Cipro. I forgot to ask though if I should stop the fluclox which she's usually on, while she has the Cipro. I've emailed my CF nurse to ask her but haven't heard anything yet, it could be her day off.

Does anyone know, to save me ringing round the rest of the CF team? I'm at work at the moment so it's a bit difficult for me to get hold of anyone.

Thanks

Michelle

Ben (26 months) has also just grown pseudo and has been prescribed cipro. We were told to continue Fluclox as usual.

thanks everyone. I did ring round the CF team but couldn't get hold of anyone -they'd probably all knocked off early for the weekend. I asked the hospital pharmacist & she thought we should continue with the fluclox. From the replies, it looks like it will do no harm, so I'll keep her on it unless I hear otherwise.

One other thing though...have any of you given cipro to a child under the age of 2? I've read the leaflet with the medication & it specifically says it shouldn't be given unless the child is over 2. Scarlett's 15 months old & although I have complete faith in our CF doctor, it's worrying me now. It's just typical that it's the weekend & I won't be able to ask anyone on the team about this until monday.
