My local paper has phoned today and are coming round to take a photo of Grace tomorrow I am really pleased as last year they didn't come to do a photo and did only a small piece on it. I will have to get her best frock out now............

Just had to email the original of the pic of Seren and Dylan which is used in the calendar to the Lowestoft Journal and the East Anglian Daily Times!

So should get some more publicity!

Hugs,

Becky x

You are very popular there Becky as I had a Suffolk newspaper wanting the original photo from the calendar on the phone today aswell! Go publicity - go! Doing fantastically well this year - no calendars left here - waiting for the next batch, but on the way to having sold 1320 already. Whip, woo, toodle do!

Well the paper have been today to take a few photos of Grace (and me - yuk!) and then this afternoon the paper phoned again and said the editor has decided that they would like to do a feature about Grace and CF etc so on the phone they interviewed me and asked me how we felt about CF, how we felt when Grace was diagnosed, how we deal with it,a day living with CF,how do we cope, did I have a test when pregnant with Hugh (bit personal I thought!),medication, physio, family support, financial strain (what?!),does CF stop Grace doing anything etc etc

I thought it was great that they were so interested and am really pleased that CF will get some publicity. I am a bit worried that I have said something wrong or they will print my feelings etc that are not quite true. I am also feeling a bit funny as they asked where Grace went to school and I obviously told them which I am fine about, but I do hope that there is no come back for Grace with regards to her having CF etc

I don't think this is coming out right, perhaps it is as I am a bit 'CF sensitive' at the mo and I have never had a story like this done before. I am always worried about people finding out about CF and how they will react and always have this dilemma when I have told people about it and wonder whether I should have or not. I hope people know what I mean. What do others do?

Anyway, this was supposed to be about the publicity and I have gone slightly of track!

I have just re read what I have written and I think what I am worried about is some sort of sob story in the paper where people will maybe pity Grace, I would hate that....................

Hello Sarah. Thank you for giving your local paper a story to write about the calendar and CF. I know it feels rather intrusive and not everyone wants to partake in publicity - it's a truely personal decision from family to family. I can thoroughly understand your hesitation though as newspapers do tend to twist things to make them sound a bit more dramatic - if you feel a bit unsure about it still, give them a ring and ask them to send you a proof before they print, thereby you'll know what is going in and won't get any shocks. I'm sure they will understand, especially with Grace being so young. I hope Grace is well and Hugh is keeping you busy.

Yes good idea Livvy. I am all for publicity 100% it just felt funny somebody asking me so many questions about CF I think. The reporter lady was lovely though so I am sure she wont mind if I give her a ring to check through what she is going to print.
