Cystic Fibrosis is a multi-system disease requiring a holistic approach to care. It is now generally agreed that a team of trained experienced health professionals in a Specialist CF centre with more than 50 patients best provides this type of care.

Care for children with CF may be provided at a general hospital if there is a CF clinic, which undertakes a recognised form of shared care with the staff of a Specialist CF centre.
